Aeromedical Crew Resource Management
For facilitating the improvement of safety and efficiency by better teamwork and understanding of human factors.
The Aeromedical Crew Resource Management training day (AmCRM) is a unique Human Factors course that teaches the participants about the frailty of the human brain and the origin and evolution of errors and mishaps in aeromedical practice. On this basis, participants are taught how to improve their communication, decision-making, teamwork and leadership skills by simple practical exercises, high fidelity simulation and actor-led scenarios. This heightened awareness facilitates behaviour change which will enhance patient safety and operational efficiency.
AmCRM tailors its scenarios to the professional duties of the individual participants on each course so that they learn the relevance of good teamwork and leadership in their own personal working environment, using meaningful and realistic bespoke scenarios.
This one day course consists of tutorials, practical work stations and scenario teaching. Using knowledge and skills taught on this course, you will learn how to:
- Understand the potential frailties of human performance under normal and stressful conditions
- Achieve better communication and decision-making skills
- Identify common sources of error and mishap
- Employ strategies to reduce human error and manage crisis situations
- Understand the qualities of a good team
- Improve leadership and teamworking skills
- Manage aeromedical emergencies using AmCRM strategies
The AmCRM course is suitable for flight nurses, doctors, paramedics and anyone else who works in the air ambulance, medical assistance or repatriation industry, including pilots and operations staff.
The meeting will be held in the unique and fabulous backdrop of one of the Royal lodges of Windsor Great Park, recently made famous as a venue in the ‘Kings Speech’. It is adjacent to the Queen’s home at Windsor Castle near London’s Heathrow Airport. The beautiful Cumberland Lodge, built in 1652 and steeped in history is a luxurious venue set in splendid parkland, in sight and walking distance of Windsor Castle. This is a unique opportunity to study and socialise in superb accommodation centred in an amazing rural setting, yet so close to London.
